Production Process
Trekinetic wheelchairs are custom built to order by hand at our production facility in Hemel Hempstead in the United Kingdom. Our iconic manual and powered all-terrain wheelchairs use a unique combination of bespoke components and are assembled on-site by our experienced production process team.
With a commitment to precision and craftsmanship, we produce only a limited number of Trekinetic wheelchairs each month, ensuring each one receives the meticulous attention it deserves. With over 1 billion unique combinations available within our current options list, each Trekinetic wheelchair is truly as unique as the individual it’s built for.
Whilst we can’t share all of our production secrets, the below overview, provides some insight into the Trekinetic production process and what happens once you place your order.
Production Lifecycle
- Order Acceptance: Once we’ve received your order, we assign a unique chassis number and add your order into our live production schedule. Our availability tracker, visible on our website, shows the current available production slots for each month.
- Custom Components: Special order items like the carbon fibre seat shell and any other unique options are processed, ordered and scheduled for pre-assembly.
- Pre-Assembly: Each component is handpicked, tested and finished as required, ready for assembly by one of our technicians.
- Assembly: A dedicated production technician will hand build each Trekientic wheelchair to order based on your exact specifications.
- Testing: Once the wheelchair is built and finished, it will go through a comprehensive two stage pre delivery inspection to test each component.
Although production times vary depending on customer specifications, the average Trekinetic GTE build takes 1-2 weeks to complete. Please note that some customers may have requested additional third-party modifications. In that case, your dealer should be able to advise of any associated lead times.
Customisation & Quality Assurance
Trekinetic currently offer over 60 options, many of which are proprietary and manufactured in-house. Trekinetic follow the ISO 9001 international standard for Quality Management Systems and are proud to be certified by NQA in the UK.
Packaging & Shipping
Once complete, our wheelchairs can be shipped or collected by an accredited dealer. If your wheelchair is being shipped, the chair is secured on a Europa pallet in a secure container and wrapped to protect it from the elements. All Trekinetic shipments are fully insured during transit and delivery typically takes 2-5 days, depending on location.
Customer Support
In most cases, your wheelchair will arrive through your dealer, who will arrange final delivery and ensure you’re familiar with your chair’s operation. They will also become your first point of contact for any customer support related issues and can liaise with the factory on your behalf as required.
